Murphy: A Management Guru ??

Ever correlated Murphy with management?? neither did I until recently.................

Anything which can go wrong will go wrong. A plain and simple statement, which used to be part of so many e-mail forwards was nothing more than a part of spam for me. I was preparing for CAT and had joined test series by CL and IMS. In all the Mock CATs and SIMCATs, I scored above 99 percentile.

This boosted my confidence greatly in build up to D-day. On the day when it mattered most, I gave it my best shot. The percentile that I got was sufficient to get me admission to any IIM! And I mean it. But then the all knowing, omnipresent Murphy's law got better of me. I did not get a call from any IIM as my scored was skewed.

I was not mentally prepared to go to any B-school other than IIM. And also I was not ready to wait another year. It caused me great pain and anguish to take admission somewhere else.....

As Jack Welch has said, always be prepared for the worst. Do sincerely believe that anything which can go wrong will go wrong. Prepare yourself for the worst before starting for anything. And you will never be disappointed, may anything come........
